Travsta: An Itinerary Builder

Travsta started with a problem we kept seeing inside the travel industry.

Tour companies were spending an enormous amount of time preparing itineraries.

A customer would send an inquiry, and someone inside the travel company would begin assembling destinations, hotels, activities, descriptions, pricing and images into a Word document, PDF or presentation.

Then the customer would request a change.

And much of the work would happen again.

In 2022, Shazeen and I started asking a simple question:

Why should producing an itinerary take hours?

That question became Travsta.

Building the first version

Travsta was developed entirely inside Purple Software.

The original goal was straightforward: give travel companies a faster way to create professional itineraries without manually assembling every document from scratch.

Instead of repeatedly writing descriptions, formatting documents and calculating tours manually, the platform could structure that work into a reusable system.

Over time, the product expanded far beyond the original itinerary builder.

Travel companies can now manage destination and experience content, hotel contract rates, seasonal pricing, room types and tour costing from one system. AI can generate itinerary descriptions and highlights, while completed itineraries can be shared through links or exported to PDF and Word. Travsta also supports multiple languages, branded domains and collaboration between travel companies and their agents.

But the part I find most interesting is still the original problem.

Speed.

Speed matters more than it appears

Imagine two travel companies receiving the same inquiry.

One sends a polished itinerary within twenty minutes.

The other sends one several hours later.

Even if both offer exactly the same trip, the customer experiences those businesses very differently. Customer usually gets emotionally attached with the first itinerary they see.

The faster a travel company can understand an inquiry, price the trip and present something convincing to the customer, the faster the sales conversation can move forward.

Travsta gradually evolved around that insight.

It is no longer just about making attractive itineraries

It is about helping travel companies respond faster, price accurately and move an inquiry towards a booking with less operational friction. Also making sure the itinerary is still attractive.

What Travsta taught me

Travsta was one of the projects that strengthened my belief that some of the best software ideas are hidden inside boring repetitive work. People often look for dramatic problems to solve. But there are businesses everywhere where someone spends three hours doing something that should take fifteen minutes.

Those problems may not sound exciting. But solve them properly and the effect compounds every single day. That is what Travsta was built to do.

Take a process that repeatedly consumed hours and turn it into something that can happen in minutes.
